Smart Warehouse Solution - Automated Warehouse 4.0 Solution

Smart warehouse solutions are one of the top priority activities in the supply chain and logistics operations. This activity directly affects the quality of products during storage and the overall cost of business operations. In this article, we will explore the types of smart warehouses and the most effective warehouse management technologies currently in use.

Current types of smart warehouses

In a manufacturing enterprise, warehouses are usually divided into the following types:

  • Component warehouse: includes all input materials and finished products of production stages to be used as raw materials for subsequent stages (input).
  • Product warehouse: includes finished products, the final output of production lines preparing for shipment (output).
  • Packaging material warehouse: includes packaging, pallets, nylon, cords,...related to storing, packing pallets.

In logistics, there are the following basic types of warehouses:

     1. Bonded warehouse:

A bonded warehouse is a separate area for storing, preserving, or providing services for goods from overseas or domestically brought into the warehouse under a contract for bonded warehousing signed between the bonded warehouse owner and the cargo owner. Bonded warehouses may be owned by the state or private companies.

At bonded warehouses, cargo owners can directly or authorize the warehouse owner or agent to carry out customs procedures such as reinforcement, division, packaging, packing, classification of goods, and maintenance of goods. In addition, it is possible to transfer ownership of goods, transfer goods two ways between bonded warehouses and border gates, between bonded warehouses and each other, and carry out import-export procedures. At Kuehne + Nagel's bonded warehouse, your documents and customs clearance procedures will always be processed at the fastest speed.

     2. CFS warehouse (container freight station):

A CFS warehouse (also known as a gathering place for loose cargo) is a specialized warehouse for gathering or separating loose cargo for common container transportation. CFS warehouses are often used when cargo owners do not have enough goods to fill a full container load (FCL). Services at CFS warehouses include packaging, repackaging, arranging, and rearranging goods awaiting export. Here, goods will be brought to the gathering place to wait for customs procedures if necessary before being separated or combined into a common container for export.

     3. Tax suspension warehouse:

A tax suspension warehouse is a warehouse used to store imported raw materials and supplies that have been cleared but not yet taxed for the production of goods for export by the tax suspension warehouse owner (Article 4 of the Customs Law No. 54/2014/QH13, reference...). In theory, the tax warehouse belongs to the ownership of enterprises and these enterprises will take responsibility and coordinate with customs agencies to facilitate the inspection and supervision of the tax warehouse.
